Girls Incorporated of Hamblen County started in 1973 as the Girls Club of Morristown. Local women, led by Della Jeffers Medlin, set up activities for girls two days a week at the Boys Club. Four hundred girls signed up the first summer. The club moved to the second floor of the local Presbyterian Church, then to an abandoned school building before constructing its own site with locally raised dollars in 1978. Since then, the club has provided after school and summer programming for girls ages 6 to 18 from Hamblen and surrounding counties.
