Kuumba kicks off at the Knoxville Museum of Art from 5pm - 9pm with the Taste of Africa, Featuring "A Taste of Africa Buffet," artist exhibits, Storyteller Obakunle Akinlana presenting African Folktales & Spoken Word Cafe with renowned Sonia Sanchez and Abiodoum Oyewole of the Last Poets. Featuring: live band and Kuumba Watoto Drum and Dance Co., and hands-on arts and crafts. Admission: $10.00

6pm with Junkanu Parde on Market Square, (starting on Gay Street and Jackson Ave. ending at Market Square) features festival participants, the original Free Spirit Stilt Walkers, Kuumba Watoto Dance and Drum Company, churches, and community groups who strut, drum, and dance, culminates with a live concert on Market Square sponsored by University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) featuring Neo Soul artists Floetry. Late Night performance sponsored by the World Grotto at 16 Market Square, Featuring Corey Harris & the 5 x 5 Band.

Saturday at Chilhowee Park gates open at 11am until 10pm enjoy the African Market Place with traditional crafts, clothing, and foods; the World Children's Village; and two entertainment stages. On the main stage at 7pm featuring recording artist Bilal and the world renowned neo soul artist Erykah Badu at 8pm.
Sunday gates open at 12 noon until 9pm, relish in the African Market Place as the early afternoon brings forth the gospel with Gospel in The Park and the Knoxville Zoological Garden's Petting Zoo (Children's World Village) from 3pm - 5pm. Admission: $5.00 and $10.00 after 4pm; children 6 yrs. and under FREE, and on Sunday children 12yrs. and under FREE.
