How the IRV election process works (easy as 1,2,3...):

1. Voters rank preferences of candidate choices 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...

2. If no candidate has received more than 50% of voter support, those that preferred the last place candidate shift their support to their next preferred choice.

3. The cycle is repeated until a candidate receives over 50% of the votes.
