I just heard that tourism numbers have been lagging in Sevierville and Pigion Forge for three years, and tourism is taking a major hit now from the rise in gas prices. The national housing bubble has just popped, and many big ticket condo and cabin projects are finding it hard to find customers. Crop losses from heat, drought and pest invasions over the last few years have pretty much put local farmers on the ropes. That sounds like three for three of the primary legs of the local economy, tourism, real estate, and agriculture.
Is anybody out there worried about their jobs?
