Sevier County Goat Show

September 09 2006 - September 09 2006

Where: Sevier County Fair, Sevierville, TN When: September 9, 2006 at 5pm

This is an open fun show for both children and adults raising goats. Goats must be either female or wethers, NO BUCKS PLEASE!!! Horned and dehorned goats are allowed to show in a fun show. Goats do not need to be registered to participate in this show and all breeds are welcome.

All goats must be accompanied by health certificates and must have an identifying tag or tattoo so that show officials can check their papers on arrival to the faigrounds. No sick goats will be allowed on the premises.

Entry fees are $2 per goat. All entries must be received by August 24th 2006.

Premiums and ribbons will be awarded in each class for 6 places, plus a trophy for Best in Show (Grand Champion). Palces are as follows: 1st- $10, 2nd- $8, 3rd- $7, 4th- $5, 5th- $4, 6th- $2.

All goats must be entered in their individual classes to participate in the group classes. Goats are ezpected to wear a collar and be escorted by their owner agent into the show ring.

Individuals showing dairy-type goats will be expected to sshgow wearing white jeans or trousrs, white sshirts and white shoes. All other breeds may wear black jeans or trousers and white shirts. No open toed shoes may be worn in the show ring.

The three groups for showing are: Meat-type goats, Pygmy goats and dairy-type goats.

The classes for showing meat and pygmy goats are:
1)0-6 months
2)6 months- 1 yr.
3)yearling (1 yr. and under 2 yrs.)
4)2-3 yr. old
5)4-5 yr. old
6)aged animals
Group classes:
7)Get of sire: 3 does by one sire, may be any age
8)Produce of Dam: two daughters, any age of one mother
9)Best of Breed: All first place animals from each of the preceding
classes show.
The classes for showing dairy-type goats are:
1a)0-6 months
2a)6months- 1 yr.
3a)dry yearling- 12-24 months, never freshened
4a)yearling in milk
5a)2 yr. old in milk
6a)3 yr. old in milk
7a)4-5 yr. old in milk
8a)aged does in milk
9a)Get of Sire: 3 does from one sire may be any age, may be from
different dams
10a)Produce of Dam: 2 does from one dam, may be any age
11a)Best udder
12a)Best of Breed: all first place winners from each of the preceding
classes compete.

in this challenge.

Does that have kidded in 2006 though not currently in milk may show
in the milking classes.

Participants are expected to arrive on the fair grounds by 1pm on Saturday Sept. 9th, 2006. Health papers and entries will be checked on arrival. Each classe will be announced and it is expected that each praticipant will arrive inthe show ring promptly. The show will begin at 5pm sharp! All goats will be released following the awarding of premiums at the end of the show.

Rrules of the show are according to Aamerican Dairy Goat Association standards.

The Sevier County Fairgrounds will not be responsible for any damages, injury or illness incurred while on the premises. Responsibility lies with each participant, goat owner or fair goer.
