NASHVILLE - Tennesseeans deemed ?uninsurable? may soon regain insurance coverage through Governor Bredesen?s AccessTN program.
Since the TennCare reforms, finding the means to afford life-saving medications has been a challenge for many deemed ?uninsurable.?
Officials have characterized the new AccessTN program as, ?A high risk pool designed to offer full coverage for chronically ill Tennesseans who have been otherwise unable to get health insurance.?
Applications will be accepted starting March 1st and coverage starts as soon as April 1st. Of the 6,000 AccessTN positions available, 75 percent will be reserved for eligible applicants deemed uninsurable who were disenrolled from TennCare due to reform. The timeframe of reserved positions is limited until sixty days after AccessTN opens or until all positions are filled.
