Paying for Sustainable Water Infrastructure EPA Conference

Innovations for the 21st Century

March 21 2007 - March 23 2007

All conference sessions and events will be held at the: Hilton Atlanta Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. At the latest, online registration will end March 19.

This conference will bring together stakeholders from all levels of government and the private sector to explore creative methods to pay for sustainable water infrastructure today and into the future. It is the first of its kind to address the challenge of integrating the many diverse tools and strategies to pay for sustainable water infrastructure.

Integration begins with the two fundamental dimensions of "paying for sustainable water infrastructure": Increasing investment in cost-effective systems and reducing capital, operation, and maintenance costs.

From the FAQs: How will the Conference affect the EPA's water programs?

EPA views this conference as an opportunity to hear from a variety of practitioners with experience in innovative sustainable infrastructure approaches. It is hoped that the ideas and concepts presented will spur conversation about the future federal role in supporting sustainable infrastructure efforts. To this end, in the weeks following the Conference, EPA will host a meeting for leaders from the cosponsor organizations to consider what was learned from the conference and how best to incorporate new ideas and approaches into EPA's ongoing efforts to support sustainable water infrastructure.

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss these issues with leaders and peers in four tracks:

-Sustainable Water Infrastructure
-Federal Roles in Water Infrastructure Innovation
-State and Local Innovations
-International Innovations in Finance, Technologies, and Management
